Meet our Staff

Lynn R. Swadley – President
Lynn is the Founder and President of Sunrise Builders Inc. Lynn was born in Oklahoma, raised in Texas, and when he moved to the Upper Peninsula in 1976, he wanted to start his own company. He started Sunrise Builders in January of 1977. He has nearly 40 years of experience in the construction and development field. Lynn has developed some of the Marquette area’s finest neighborhoods, such as the Summits, Huron Woods, Granite Pointe, and Harlow Farms. He is a well known and respected Builder, Developer and Home designer in the State. He is dedicated to his profession and a strong believer in community service having served on dozens of State and local Boards, Committees and Commissions. Lynn has twice served as the UP Builders Association President, and also the Vice President of the Michigan Association of Home Builders. He is a Licensed Builder and a Licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of Michigan, and holds a CGB designation from the National Association of Home Builders. He is one of the few select Builders in the State of Michigan to have received the prestigious Michigan Housing Achievement Award in 2003. Lynn and his wife of thirty years Christine live in Marquette, and enjoy spending time with their large family and the great UP outdoors.

Sherman Store – Vice President of Operations
Sherman has worked in the building trades in both Michigan and Florida for over 28 years. Sherman controls production, estimating and purchasing for Sunrise Builders. Sherman holds a State of Michigan Builders License. Sherman and his wife Carrie reside in Negaunee and have one son, Ryan, who is also a member of the Sunrise Builders Team. In his spare time Sherman enjoys the outdoors, especially deer hunting, at his family camp.

Andrea L’Huillier – Corporate Finance Officer
Andrea joined the Sunrise Builders team in March of 2004. Andrea has over 8 years experience in the field of Finance. She was born in Grand Rapids, MN, and raised in Marquette, MI. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor in Business Administration in Corporate Finance. Andrea and her husband Nathan, reside in Marquette, along with their son Peyton. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, enjoying the outdoors, camping, gardening, and sneaking in some HGTV. Andrea has decorated many of our model homes.

George LaBlonde – Sales Manager
George, originally from Ironwood, Michigan, graduated from Western Michigan University with a BBA Degree in Accounting and received a Commission in the US Army Aviation Branch. After completing eight years of service and upon returning to the United States as a highly decorated combat veteran, he elected to leave the service and enter the civilian work force. He relocated to Scottsdale Arizona where he pursued a career in the building industry. He comes to Sunrise with 17 years of experience building high end custom homes throughout North Scottsdale and the Greater Phoenix Area. He currently resides in Marquette Township with his son George T. LaBlonde, IV who attends Bothwell Middle School. George is often the first team member who our clients meet, and he manages the home buying process for the company.

Lars Larson – Project Manager
Lars has been in the construction industry for 10 years, all of them working for Sunrise Builders. He attended Northern Michigan University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minors in criminal justice. While attending Northern Michigan University Lars was a three year letter winner on the NMU Wildcat football team. Lars holds a State of Michigan Builders License and is working towards becoming a Certified Green Builder through the NAHB. In his free time he enjoys fishing and spending time in the woods. Lars manages the construction of our condominium neighborhoods and many of our homes.

Chris Richards – Customer Care Manager
Chris joined the Sunrise Builders team in June of 2002. Chris has over 19 years experience in the Building/Customer Service profession. Chris worked for Menards, Inc for nine years where she started as a part-time cashier and quickly advanced to one of the top three positions at the store level, becoming Office Manager. She held this position for seven years before leaving to join the Sunrise Builders Team. Chris, her Significant Other Brett, along with her two children, Brittany and Tyler reside in Ishpeming. In her free time Chris enjoys camping, walking, being a spectator at drag racing events, spending time with family and helping run Brett’s towing business. Chris provides concierge level service to our clients through the finish selection process and our outstanding warranty program.

Laura R. Swadley – Manager & Finance Director
Laura joined the team in February 2011 after returning to the area from Madison WI, where she was a bank manager and in customer service for 10 years. Since moving back, Laura has been heavily involved in the family business, obtaining her realtors license for Sunrise Builders and is now the manager of North Creek Townhomes in Harlow Farms. She and her father Lynn Swadley are working together on a number of real estate development projects with Swadley Development, LLC.  In addition, she is the Finance Director of Mill Creek Assisted Living and enjoys helping out with activities for the seniors who live there.  In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and spending time outdoors in the beautiful Upper Peninsula.

Christina Spitz - CAD Technician
Christina is our most recent team member. Christina has a bachelor’s in Environmental Science and Engineering Technology. Before becoming the CAD Technician at Sunrise, Christina worked as a GIS Cartographer. She is originally from the Upper Peninsula and enjoys all that this beautiful area has to offer. In her spare time you will find Christina biking, running, skiing, hiking, cooking for and spending time with her family. Christina and her family live in Marquette and enjoy being part of the community.
